It was a real pleasure to welcome The Seren Network to the venue this week. Over 350 hopeful students and their parents spent an informative evening with Julie Elliot the Cardiff hub coordinator and Carolyn Hitt producer and co-founder of Parasol Media & columnist for Wales Online. Students Mohammed Eghleilib and Andrew Boczek gave great advice surrounding the application and interview process.
What is The Seren Network?
The Seren Network is a Welsh Government initiative that supports Wales' brightest students to fulfil their academic potential and gain places at the UK's leading universities.
The regional partnership hubs deliver 'stretch' and 'challenge' support programmes for these high achievers. The Hub is designed to inspire students about future career aspirations and stretch and challenge students in the subjects they enjoy. They link students with leading UK universities and provide hands-on support and advice in preparation for university application whilst supporting schools and teachers in providing the best information, advice and activities for their high achieving students.
What are the hubs?
Each hub is a partnership of schools and FE colleges within a geographic are. The most academically gifted Year 12 students from those institutions regularly come together to participate in super-curricular activities, including academic workshops, inspirational talks, and preparation for university applications.
We wish all the Seren Network students the very best for their future academic careers, and we look forward to welcoming the class of 2017.
